Nothing negative about this. It's a classic landscape picture.

Maybe looking at this in real life, one might say, "Nah, too drab for a picture." But the job of a photographer is to allow the audience to see something differently. You do that here.

Rich color is the key. The green in the foreground and blue sky in the background give this some tones that complement but don't overwhelm the austere brownish-yellows and dark greens.

VERY long field of focus emphasizes the serenity and austerity of the picture, and allows the background blue sky to give our sense a much-needed variation on the palette.

Every large-scale landscape like this needs something to carry us through the picture. I like how the road does that here without hijacking our attention. A nice drab gray line to carry but not overwhelm. So often I see someone use a landscape like this and have a busy road serve that function, but the cars make our scan of the scene stop and start. It's nice that you were able to find a moment without anything on the road that overwhelms us.

Excellent lighting and color saturation (especially for a day with broken clouds).

Really excellent execution. This makes me want to visit NZ even more!
